Ancient Art of Energy Healing

Discover the Ancient Art of Energy Healing

In today's busy world, many of us are searching for a way to slow down, reconnect with ourselves, and restore balance to our lives. Reiki offers a gentle, natural path toward relaxation, healing, and inner peace by working with the body's own energetic system.

Whether you're completely new to Reiki or simply curious about how it works, understanding this beautiful healing practice may open the door to a deeper connection with your mind, body, and spirit.

What Is Reiki?

Reiki (pronounced Ray-Key) is a gentle yet powerful energy healing practice that was rediscovered in Japan during the early 20th century. The word Reiki comes from two Japanese words:

  • Rei – Universal Wisdom, Divine Consciousness, or Spiritual Intelligence

  • Ki – Life Force Energy, the vital energy that flows through every living thing

Together, Reiki is often translated as "spiritually guided life force energy."

Every culture throughout history has recognized this life force in one form or another. It is known as Chi in China, Qi in Traditional Chinese Medicine, Prana in India, and has been described by many other names throughout ancient healing traditions.

When this life energy flows freely, we tend to experience greater health, vitality, emotional balance, and mental clarity. When it becomes blocked, depleted, or stagnant due to stress, illness, trauma, or everyday life, we may begin to experience physical discomfort, emotional distress, fatigue, or a feeling of being disconnected from ourselves.

Reiki works by encouraging this natural energy to flow more freely, helping restore harmony throughout the whole person.

How Does Reiki Work?

A Reiki practitioner does not use their own personal energy to heal someone.

Instead, they serve as a channel, allowing universal life force energy to flow where it is needed most. During a Reiki session, energy is gently directed through the practitioner's hands either by light touch or with the hands held slightly above the body.

Because Reiki is believed to be guided by Universal Intelligence, it naturally flows to the areas where healing is most needed. Rather than forcing change, Reiki supports the body's own innate ability to restore balance.

Many people describe Reiki as feeling like:

  • Warmth flowing through the body

  • Gentle tingling or vibration

  • Waves of peace and relaxation

  • Emotional release

  • A comforting sense of calm

  • Deep meditation

  • Falling into a restful sleep

Others may simply feel relaxed, while some notice very little during the session itself yet experience positive changes over the following days.

Every Reiki experience is unique.

Reiki Works on Every Level

One of Reiki's greatest strengths is that it works holistically.

Rather than focusing only on physical symptoms, Reiki seeks to support the whole person, including:

  • Physical well-being

  • Emotional healing

  • Mental clarity

  • Spiritual growth

  • Energetic balance

Sometimes physical discomfort has emotional roots. Sometimes emotional struggles create physical tension. Reiki doesn't diagnose or treat disease—instead, it encourages balance wherever imbalance exists.

Because of this holistic approach, many people choose Reiki as a complementary wellness practice alongside conventional medical care.

What Can Reiki Help With?

While Reiki is not a replacement for professional medical treatment, many people seek Reiki to support their overall well-being and to promote relaxation. People commonly receive Reiki for:

  • Stress reduction

  • Anxiety

  • Emotional overwhelm

  • Grief and loss

  • Fatigue

  • Better sleep

  • Spiritual connection

  • Meditation support

  • Personal growth

  • Energy balancing

  • Relaxation during difficult life transitions

Research into Reiki is ongoing. Some studies suggest Reiki may help promote relaxation and reduce stress, although more high-quality research is needed to fully understand its effects. Reiki should be viewed as a complementary practice rather than a substitute for medical care.

Is Distance Reiki Really Possible?

One of the most beautiful aspects of Reiki is that it is not limited by physical distance.

Advanced Reiki practitioners learn techniques that allow healing energy to be offered across space and time. Whether someone lives next door or on the other side of the world, Reiki can be shared through focused intention and the energetic connection created during a session.

This is why remote Reiki sessions have become so popular. Many people actually find them to be just as relaxing and meaningful as receiving Reiki in person.

Distance Reiki is also the inspiration behind my free weekly Remote Reiki Circle, where healing energy is offered to everyone who signs up, much like a community prayer circle filled with loving intention.

The History of Reiki

The modern system of Reiki was rediscovered in Japan by Dr. Mikao Usui in the early 1920s.

Following a profound spiritual experience after a period of meditation and retreat on Mount Kurama, Usui developed a healing practice that combined spiritual development with energy healing. He began sharing these techniques with others and established what became known as the Usui Reiki Ryลhล, or the Usui System of Natural Healing.

One of his most influential students was Chujiro Hayashi, a retired naval officer who opened a Reiki clinic in Tokyo. Hayashi helped refine the teaching methods and passed the practice on to one of his students, Hawayo Takata.

Mrs. Takata, a Japanese-American woman from Hawaii, traveled to Japan seeking treatment for serious health concerns. After experiencing Reiki firsthand, she studied under Hayashi and became a Reiki Master.

Returning to Hawaii in 1938, she opened the first Reiki clinic outside Japan and spent the rest of her life sharing Reiki throughout the United States and Canada. Before her passing in 1980, she initiated 22 Reiki Masters, whose students would eventually help spread Reiki across the world.

Today, millions of people practice Reiki in hospitals, wellness centers, private practices, hospices, and homes around the globe.

Is Reiki a Religion?

No.

Reiki is not connected to any religion or belief system.

People of every faith—or no faith at all—can receive Reiki. It requires no particular spiritual path, doctrine, or set of beliefs.

Many people simply experience Reiki as a peaceful, calming practice that helps them reconnect with themselves. Others experience it as a deeply spiritual journey. Your experience is entirely your own.

My Approach to Reiki

For me, Reiki is more than a healing modality—it is an act of compassion.

Every session is offered with the intention of creating a safe, peaceful space where your body, mind, and spirit are free to receive exactly what serves your highest good. Whether you're seeking stress relief, energetic balance, emotional support, or simply a quiet moment to reconnect with yourself, Reiki meets you where you are.

I believe healing is a journey, not a destination, and I am honored to walk alongside those who feel called to this path.

My Remote Reiki Session

How I Run My Remote Reiki Sessions

One of the questions I hear most often about distance Reiki is, “But… how does that even work?” If you’ve never experienced Reiki in person, it can sound a little mysterious. I get it. Saying, “Oh, it’s just like in-person” doesn’t really explain much if you’ve never had either. So, let me walk you through exactly what I do during a remote session.

Now, different practitioners may have their own style, but the heart of it is the same—we’re connecting with you energetically, no matter where you are.

Before your scheduled appointment time, I’ll ask you to get nice and comfortable. That might mean sitting with your feet flat on the floor or lying down in a quiet space where you won’t be interrupted. I’ll invite you to set an intention to receive healing, take a few deep, cleansing breaths, and close your eyes. I always recommend keeping a glass of water nearby—it helps your body process the energy during and after the session.

A few minutes before we begin, I prepare my own space so it’s peaceful and focused. I’ll put on some soft music, light a candle or two, and maybe some gentle incense. Then I bring out my “surrogate”—a small, well-loved teddy bear I use to represent you during the session. (Yes, it’s adorable, but it works beautifully as a stand-in for your energy.)

When it’s time to start, I focus on you—your name, your location, and the intention for your healing. I draw the Reiki symbols on my hands and over the surrogate, and then I begin. My hands hover just above the surrogate as I channel the Reiki energy into it as if you were right here in front of me.

I move through twelve hand positions, holding each for a few minutes before moving to the next. These positions cover the main energy centers of the body, and the entire process takes about an hour. During that time, you might feel warmth, tingling, a deep sense of calm, or even gentle emotional releases. Some people drift into a peaceful nap, while others stay fully aware.

Once the session is complete, I’ll reach out via FB Messenger or text to check in—how you’re feeling, anything you noticed, and any impressions I had during the work. Every experience is unique, but the goal is always the same: to leave you feeling lighter, calmer, and more balanced, no matter where you are in the world.

50 ways Reiki Can Bless Your Life

50 Beautiful Ways Reiki Can Bless Your Life

You know how sometimes we sit down and talk about the little ways life gets better when we make changes for ourselves? Reiki is one of those things where the shifts can start small but end up touching everything. Let me tell you, it’s not just about lying on a table and feeling relaxed for an hour. Reiki has a way of gently weaving its magic into all the corners of your life—mind, body, spirit, and even the everyday little moments.

For starters, your body just feels better. Your immune system gets stronger, you sleep more deeply, and stress starts to melt away instead of piling up. Even things like blood pressure can settle into a healthier range, and your body seems to recover faster—whether from a cold, an injury, or even surgery. Toxins leave the body more efficiently, your chakras balance, and your energy feels grounded instead of scattered.

And then there’s the emotional side. Peace of mind sneaks in and makes itself at home. You start smiling more, drama doesn’t stick to you like it used to, and love—both for yourself and others—just flows more freely. Old emotional wounds start to heal. Those feelings you’ve been tucking away for years? Reiki has a way of gently coaxing them out so they can be released. It helps with grief, calms emotional distress, and can even protect you from spiritual or psychic negativity.

On a mental level, things become clearer. Your intuition sharpens, your memory improves, and decision-making feels more natural. It’s like someone cleaned the smudges off the window you’ve been looking through. Suddenly you can see the big picture, you notice the little joys—like how your food tastes richer—and your creativity starts to bloom. You might even notice your productivity soaring, your stamina increasing, and waking up in the morning feeling… dare I say… easy?

Reiki doesn’t stop at the self, either. Relationships often grow stronger, whether it’s with your partner, friends, or your kids—who tend to be happier, too. Your pets can benefit, your home’s energy can shift to something lighter, and yes… even your plants and crops can thrive under its care. (I know it sounds wild, but I’ve seen it happen.)

And because Reiki works in such mysterious and wonderful ways, you may notice fewer accidents, safer travels, or even finding a parking spot right when you need it. Some folks say it helps them find lost objects, and I believe it—energy has a funny way of guiding us when we’re open to it.

Then there are the subtler but just as beautiful blessings: slowing the effects of aging, helping medications work more effectively while reducing side effects, and creating a cleaner, more vibrant environment around you. You feel more abundant in every sense—not just in things, but in joy, peace, and opportunity.

Reiki really is a companion on your personal growth journey. It’s a gentle hand that nudges you forward, opens your heart, clears your path, and reminds you of the beauty that’s already in your life. And if you’ve ever doubted that energy could change so much, just give it a little time—it has a way of proving itself.

So… did I miss anything?

Is Reiki all in my head?

Is Reiki All in My Head?

You know, this question pops up a lot—both from curious friends and even in my own early days of practicing Reiki. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard, “But isn’t it just all in your head?” And honestly? I don’t take offense to it one bit.

Here’s the thing—yes, Reiki energy is very real, whether or not you can see it. During a session, both the practitioner and the receiver often feel something—sometimes it’s warmth, tingling, deep calm, or even a wave of emotion. But because most of us were raised to believe only in what we can see, touch, or measure, we tend to raise an eyebrow when something doesn’t fit neatly into that box. We doubt what we feel. We second-guess the subtle.

So when someone says, “Isn’t that just in your head?” my answer is… well, maybe it is—and that still makes it real. Everything begins in the mind. When you want something in life, doesn’t it start as a thought? A tiny spark of intention? That spark becomes a choice, and that choice becomes reality. The mind is incredibly powerful, and intention—when used on purpose—is even more so.

The difference with Reiki is that it’s a conscious, loving alignment with healing energy. It’s not something you just stumble into without thought; it’s an intentional act. It’s about tuning into a current of kindness and light so it can help bring your body, mind, and spirit into their most balanced, vibrant state. Reiki can relieve pain, ease depression, support the body’s natural healing response, and create a sense of peace that lingers long after a session ends.

Would it be wonderful if science could hand us an undeniable, physical “proof” of Reiki? Absolutely. But honestly, even if someone wants to call it a placebo, I’m fine with that. Why? Because the healing still happens. If a person walks away feeling lighter, calmer, and more whole, then the work has done its job. And in my book, that’s as real as it gets.

Can Reiki Help Me?

๐Ÿ’ซ Can Reiki Help Me? (Yes—And Here's Why)

Let’s get right to it: Can Reiki help you?
My short answer? Yes. And here’s why I believe that with my whole heart.

Reiki has helped with everything from serious illnesses like cancer and heart disease to the everyday stuff like headaches, insomnia, stress, and even sunburns. I’ve seen it calm anxiety, ease depression, relieve pain, and help people heal on deep emotional levels too. Whether it’s a lingering injury, recovery after surgery, or just an “off” feeling you can’t quite name—Reiki supports healing in a gentle but powerful way.

But here’s something important to understand:
๐ŸŒ€ Healing doesn’t always mean a cure.
Reiki isn't magic. It doesn’t "zap away" your illness. What it does is support your body and spirit exactly where you are. It helps you rest, recharge, and heal at your own pace, in your own way.

Reiki Doesn’t Clash—It Compliments

Already seeing a doctor or therapist? Awesome—Reiki doesn’t interfere with any of it. In fact, many of my clients notice their medications or other treatments seem more effective when they incorporate Reiki sessions. Think of it like a warm, energetic boost to everything else you're already doing.

It can:

  • Reduce pain and anxiety before and after surgery

  • Shorten recovery times

  • Help you break habits or mental blocks

  • Calm your nervous system

  • Support your personal growth journey

Whether you’re healing a broken bone or breaking through old patterns, Reiki holds space for all of it.

๐Ÿง˜‍♀️ So… What Can Reiki Help With?

Honestly? So much. Here’s a quick list of things Reiki has helped with—either in my personal experience or in that of my clients:

  • Skin issues, cuts, burns, bites

  • Migraines and chronic headaches

  • Digestive issues and stress-related conditions

  • Emotional trauma, anxiety, and depression

  • Insomnia and restlessness

  • Recovery from surgery or illness

  • Spiritual clarity and emotional grounding

๐Ÿ’– Real Talk: My Personal Experiences with Reiki

Let me share a few stories from my heart.

✨ Two cancer patients I worked with both experienced noticeable pain relief from Reiki within seconds of treatment. One was late-stage and had no traditional options left; Reiki gave them peace and comfort when they needed it most. The other was undergoing chemo and radiation—Reiki helped ease both physical and emotional pain during that time, offering rest and relief between treatments.

✨ A heart patient I treated during a severe angina attack was able to feel the pain reduce before the nitro tablet fully dissolved. It was visible, even to others in the room.

✨ My own kids have benefitted from Reiki over the years—especially with stress-related insomnia, migraines, and the usual childhood ouchies.

✨ And as for me? Reiki has been my comfort and constant companion through sinus headaches, back and hip pain, and even bouts of depression. I’m still healing—but Reiki makes it all more manageable.

๐ŸŒ€ Everyone’s Journey Is Different

Here’s the truth: we don’t always know how long it will take to feel the results. According to Hering’s Law of Cure, healing often starts from within and works outward, in reverse order from how symptoms appeared. That means healing is your unique journey.

Some people feel lighter or clearer after one session. Others notice small shifts over time—better sleep, calmer thoughts, fewer flare-ups. And for some, the greatest benefit is simply feeling more supported.

๐Ÿ’ฌ So… Can Reiki Help You?

If you're feeling called to explore Reiki, I truly believe that’s your inner wisdom saying yes.

Whether you’re walking through something big or just need help finding balance again—Reiki can support you wherever you are. You don’t have to do it alone.

About Reiki

๐ŸŒŸ What Is Reiki Really? A Down-to-Earth Explanation for the Spiritually Curious

Let’s get something cleared up right away: Reiki isn’t woo-woo magic or tied to any religion—it’s simply a natural, gentle, and beautiful way of working with energy. It's like a spiritual tune-up, using universal energy to support healing, balance, and peace in our minds, bodies, and spirits.

๐Ÿ’ซ So, What Is Reiki?

The word Reiki is made up of two Japanese words:

  • Rei = Universal

  • Ki = Life Force Energy

Put together, Reiki means Universal Life Force Energy—the same life-giving energy that flows through everything.

When I give Reiki—whether in person or remotely—I’m not giving you my energy. I’m simply acting as a channel, directing that universal energy through me and to you (or your pet, your plant, your situation—you name it!). I was attuned by a Reiki Master, which means I was taught how to access this energy, shown sacred symbols, and empowered to channel Reiki in an intentional way.

๐Ÿ™ Is Reiki a Religion?

Nope. Reiki is not religious, and it doesn't conflict with any belief system. People from all walks of life benefit from Reiki. You don't have to “believe” in it for it to work—it just does what it does: heals, soothes, and aligns.

๐Ÿ’– How Reiki Works

Reiki always flows where it’s needed most, even if the person receiving it isn’t exactly sure what’s going on. That’s part of its beauty. It can help with the physical body, emotional imbalances, spiritual disconnection, or even tough life situations. Reiki can even transcend time and space, which is why distance sessions are just as powerful as in-person ones.

It’s a gentle, non-invasive way to:

  • Reduce stress

  • Promote relaxation

  • Support healing and well-being
It complements traditional medicine, but is never a replacement for professional healthcare. Think of it as supportive care for the whole self.

✨ Note: Healing doesn't always mean “curing.” Sometimes it means easing pain, restoring peace of mind, or even supporting a peaceful transition for someone nearing the end of life.

๐Ÿ’†‍♀️ What Happens During a Reiki Session?

In-person sessions involve quiet music, maybe some incense or candles, and gentle hand placements over the body (or slightly above it—touch is optional). I also use Reiki symbols to direct and amplify the energy during the session.

For remote Reiki, I use what’s called the Surrogate Method. Yep—it involves a stand-in for you (in my case, a special teddy bear that’s only used for this purpose!). I focus on your name, your location, and your intention (sometimes a photo helps), and then I do the full session as if you were there in front of me. The energy is sent directly to you, and it arrives when you're open to receiving it—even if you're just going about your day.

Some people feel it instantly; others may not notice until later—like when they sleep better, think more clearly, or feel a surprising ease in their body or emotions.

The only thing you need to do? Be open to receiving it. That’s it.

๐Ÿ’ฌ Feedback Is Always Welcome!

One of the best parts of in-person Reiki is seeing someone visibly relax or watching their posture shift when the pain eases. With remote Reiki, I don’t get to see that—so if you’ve had a session and want to share how it felt or what shifted for you, I’d love to hear it. It’s a beautiful confirmation of the work being done.

๐Ÿงช For the Science Lovers…

If you’re someone who likes the “how does this work?” behind the scenes—good news: science is catching up.

  • Back in the 1930s, researcher Harold Saxon Burr found that changes in the body’s energy field could be detected before physical symptoms appeared.

  • In the 1980s, Dr. J. Zimmerman discovered that Reiki and other energy practices emit pulsating biomagnetic fields from the practitioner’s hands. These fields naturally cycle through healing frequencies that help stimulate the body’s ability to heal.

“Science Measures the Human Energy Field” by James L. Oschman, Ph.D., and Nora H. Oschman (January 2000)

๐ŸŒธ Final Thoughts

Reiki is simple. It's loving. It's deeply healing. Whether you're feeling burned out, dealing with chronic stress, or just need a little soul reset, Reiki is here to support you.

If you're curious, I'm always happy to talk about it, answer questions, or schedule a session—in person or from afar.

Namaste, and thank you for being here. ๐Ÿ’›

Remote Reiki

๐ŸŒ Benefits of Remote Reiki: Healing Across Time + Space

If you've ever felt the calm wash over you from a hug, a prayer, or even a loving thought—then you’ve already had a taste of what remote Reiki can feel like. ๐Ÿ’ซ

Remote Reiki, also known as distance Reiki, is one of the most magical tools in the healing world. It works by tapping into the universal life force energy (Reiki) and sending it across any distance—whether you’re down the street or across the globe.

Sounds a little mystical? It totally is… but it’s also deeply real. And it works.

✨ Wait… How Does Reiki Work From Afar?

Reiki energy doesn’t follow the rules of the physical world. It’s not bound by space or time—so just like you can feel someone’s love even if they’re far away, Reiki can flow to you wherever you are.

As a practitioner, I connect with your energy using intention, focus, and sacred techniques I’ve learned through Reiki attunement. Once we’re energetically connected, I channel healing energy to support whatever’s going on—physically, emotionally, mentally, or spiritually.

All you have to do? Be open, and allow. You don’t need to do or be anything special—just rest, breathe, and receive. ๐ŸŒฌ️๐ŸŒธ

๐ŸŒฟ Why Remote Reiki Is So Powerful (and Convenient!)

Let’s talk benefits—because there are many, and they’re not just woo-woo.

Here’s what clients often experience after a remote session:

  • A deep sense of peace and calm

  • Emotional release or clarity

  • Lightness in the body

  • Eased tension or pain

  • Better sleep and less anxiety

  • Renewed energy and inner balance

But one of my favorite things about distance Reiki is how accessible and flexible it is.

๐Ÿ›‹️ You Can Receive Healing from the Comfort of Your Couch

Seriously—no traffic, no awkward waiting rooms, no rushing. You can curl up in your favorite blanket, sip some tea, and receive Reiki in your own sacred space. Whether you're:

๐ŸŒฟ Dealing with chronic illness or mobility limitations
๐ŸŒฟ Battling anxiety or sensory overwhelm
๐ŸŒฟ Traveling or living in a remote location
๐ŸŒฟ Just craving healing without the fuss

Remote Reiki meets you exactly where you are—energetically and literally. All I need is your permission and a time that works for you. Bonus points if you send a photo, but it’s not required.

⏰ Flexible, Flowing, and Guided by Intention

Another beautiful thing? You don’t even have to be actively "doing" anything during your session. Many people choose to meditate, nap, or journal while the energy flows. Others go about their day as usual—Reiki still finds its way to where it’s needed most.

Each session is deeply intentional and personalized. Before your session, I tune in to your energy and any concerns you’ve shared. Then I set a healing intention and begin channeling energy where it’s most needed.

๐ŸŒ€ What Does Remote Reiki Feel Like?

That’s different for everyone—but common sensations include:

  • Gentle warmth or tingling

  • Seeing colors or images during rest

  • Feeling like you’re floating or deeply grounded

  • Waves of calm or emotions coming up and releasing

  • An overwhelming sense of love or connection

Some folks don’t feel much during the session but notice shifts after—like improved mood, clearer thoughts, or lighter energy in the days that follow. And that’s totally normal.

๐ŸŒ• Ready to Experience Remote Reiki for Yourself?

If your spirit’s been craving rest, realignment, or a gentle way to reconnect with your inner self… this could be your sign.

I offer remote Reiki sessions that are infused with care, intuition, and a deep connection to your highest good. Whether you’re navigating stress, physical pain, or just feeling a bit energetically “off,” this healing work can help you come back to center.

You can learn more and book your session through my Linktree. ๐Ÿ’Œ

Let’s create a sacred moment of healing, just for you—no matter where you are in the world.
